# Objective

### Objectives

MIM9 enables cities and communities to compose, share, render and serve Virtual Worlds from interchangeable components: 3D content, data, rendering engines, streaming services and collaboration services. Replacing one component should never force a city to rebuild the whole stack. In particular, MIM9 ensures:

* **Composition:** 3D, BIM, geospatial and reality-capture descriptions from different sources can be combined into one world and linked to raw, live and simulated data.
* **Collaboration:** several users and AI agents can share and change the state of the same world, also across platforms.
* **Portable rendering:** the same world can be rendered by different engines and devices with a predictable result.
* **Flexible delivery:** worlds can be served or streamed over different networks and protocols, choosing between client-side, server-side and split rendering by cost, device and network.
* **Inclusion:** worlds remain accessible to people with disabilities and offer non-immersive alternatives.
* **Progressive maturity:** from a single viewable scene to federated, interconnected citiverses that behave as an open marketplace.

MIM9 builds on MIM0 (access), MIM1 (identifiers), MIM2 (representation), MIM3 (exchange and catalogues), MIM6 (security), MIM7 (geospatial) and MIM8 (LDT outputs and visualisation).

**Maturity levels.** Analogous to the LDT categories of MIM8, MIM9 distinguishes four levels of Virtual World. Each level includes the functions of the levels before it.

| Level       | Composed 3D scene | Linked live data | Multi-user collaboration | Federation with other worlds |
| ----------- | ----------------- | ---------------- | ------------------------ | ---------------------------- |
| 1 Viewable  | X                 |                  |                          |                              |
| 2 Live      | X                 | X                |                          |                              |
| 3 Shared    | X                 | X                | X                        |                              |
| 4 Federated | X                 | X                | X                        | X                            |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://mims.oascities.org/mims-specification-v9.0/citiverse/mim9-citiverse/objective.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
